SNORING SURGERY

Snoring is a significant public health problem. It is a disorder that reduces the quality of life, and that affects daily life. Adding sleep apnea to this problem further complicates the issue. It brings additional problems such as snoozing in the day, loss of sexual desire, increased appetite, cardiological problems and increased risk of heart attacks.

In order to better evaluate snoring and sleep apnea, a polysomnography test has to be performed. This test determines the amount of snoring and paused breathing, and leads to surgical or device-based applications.

The fact that snoring and sleep apnea arise due to the combination of many factors such as clogged nose, short neck, excessive weight and drug use. The surgery consists of elevating the velum, and minimal epiglottis incisions. Modern surgery protects the epiglottis and its surroundings as much as possible.
